The Hanseatic town of Wesel is situated on the Lower Rhine on the northwestern outskirts of the Ruhr district in North Rhine-Westphalia and it is a large county-affiliated town in the circle of Wesel belonging to the administrative district of Düsseldorf.

This town is seat of the circle Wesel and a member of the Hanseatic union of the modern times. The present Rhine bridge has been taken into operation as a "provisional arrangement" in 1953 and is replaced by a new one after 53 years now. You'll learn a lot about the history of the old bridge here and you can pursue the construction of the "new" one which shall be opened at the end of 2008 on the basis of current reports and photos.
